Useful information

PE for Cedar and Cherry classes will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Please can you send your child's PE kit in and ensure that ALL items are clearly named.
Monday - indoor PE    (shorts, t-shirt)
Tuesday - outdoor PE  (trainers, shorts/jogging bottoms, socks, t-shirt/jumper)

Please ensure all  of your childs clothing are clearly labelled.
PE Kits can remain in school and will be sent home on a half termly basis unless requested otherwise)

Book Bags
Please can you send in book bags on a Monday so we have time to change the books and hand them back out on Wednesday.

Every child will have a new homework book this year and these can be kept in their book bag. New homework will be added each week and sent home with book bags on a Wednesday. If there is no homework set in their homework book, please check online on our Abacus site for online homework. Log in details will be sent home shortly.

Snack money
Snack money can be paid weekly or half-termly. Please send this in a named envelope. The cost is £1.50 each week.
Autumn Term 1 - 7 weeks (£10.50)

If your child is unwell please keep them at home and remember the 48 hour rule relating to sickness and diarrohoea.

Language, Literacy and Communication


In Literacy, we will be focussing on two writing genres: report writing and explanation texts. We will be looking at different examples, identifying the main features of these and the children will write their own.

Ways to help your child
There are many ways that you can help your child at home.
-Please help your child to practise writing using our school cursive font.
-Please help your child to learn to read and write high frequency words.
-Please read with your child every week.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Our main context for learning this term is 'Community Explorers'. Through this topic we will be learning about different people in our community including: doctors; fire fighters; police and the important roles they play. We will also be exploring our local area.

We will be looking at sources of light, shadows and creating simple electrical circuits.

Physical Development

In PE, we will be responding to different music moods expressively through dance.  In Games, we will develop our fitness, stamina and ball skills.

Mathematical Development

In Maths we will be looking at a range of strands including:

-developing our counting skills
-developing number recognition and sequencing skills
-accurate number formation
-counting on and back
-number bonds (including bonds to 5, 6 and 10)
-2d shapes

PSE, RE, Well-being, Cultural diversity

PSD, Cultural Diversity and Well-being

We will be looking at and learning to appreciate, our own strengths, and valuing the strengths of others.


In RE this term we will be learning about the Christian faith, specifically the celebrations around Baptism and Harvest.


In ICT this half term, we will be focussing on Our Digital World and creating our own video blogs (vlogs)!  We will also be looking at different uses of technology as well as beginning to understand how to browse the world wide web effectively and safely.

Creative Development

We will be developing our creative skills and focussing on the Welsh artist Gayle Rogers and completing our own observational pictures.

Welsh Language Development

We will be practising our vocabulary relating to numbers and colours. We will be enjoying these through lots of songs and interactive activities. In addition, we will be looking at Flic and Flac books as well as Tedi Twt.
