Oracy - We are presenting talks on a chosen topic to the rest of the class.
Writing - We are studying Bill's New Frock as a text type. We are learning the following genres of writing:
· Persuasion
· Instructional
· Explanation
Reading - We are reading a variety of texts linked to Sportswear Designers E.g. the life of diiferent sporitng hero, how the body works, sporitng event information texts.
Science- We will be expanding our science skills investigating how the body works.
DT- We will design different types of kits.
Music- Compose a piece of music with a sporting influence.
Geography- Sporting events linked to our capital city linked to persuasion texts.
PE and Games
PE- We will be developing our dance element. Composing and performing a series of linked movements to a famous sporting them alongside sporting positions.
Games
We are developing skills linke dto out upcoming Sports Day such as hurdling, shuttle relay and racing.
We will also continue to develop fitness, stamina and an awareness of liviing a healthy lifestyle linked to our current Context for Learning.
Mental maths - We will revise all of the skills taight this year including times table practice, adding several small numbers and subtracting within given numbers to 100. We will also practise mental methods for the four number operations.
Number: We will be larnign to add and subtract using the column method.
We are also studying measurement, data handling and shape.
Mathematical Reasoning: We will be completing investigations, word problems and reasoning activities linked to our mathematical curriculum. Through our context for learning Sportswear Designers, we will be applying skills taught in mathematics. Our main focus will be applying what we know about data handling to create graphs linked with science.
PSE
The topic in 'You Can Do It' this half-term is 'Getting Along'. This has strong links with Thinking and in particular P4C.
We will also focus on:
Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship: Appreciation of the world, poverty, school life and environmental issues created by humans
Moral and Spiritual Development:
Personal values, honesty and integrity.
Preparing for lifelong learning:
Children will learn to take increasing responsibility for their learning.
Well being
Weekly R Time nurture groups will continue.
RE
We will be focus on the symbolism of water within religion.
This half term we will be using 'Scratch' software to developing our digital competency with a particular focus on :
My Digital World.
Children will be learning how to Skype and write an email.
We will also cover how to stay safe online.
Art and Design: Cretae piece of artwork linked to water theme in RE.
Music: Create compositions linked to sporting events.
Children will study the main musical elements such as timbre, dynamics and pace and apply these with effect tot ehir compositions.
