Safe and Responsible Use of ICT

Technology is a constant and prevalent feature of children’s lives, both during and beyond school.  The benefits of technology are tremendous: children have unprecedented opportunities to learn, create, communicate and discover.  However, as the role of technology in children’s lives grows, so does the risk of exposure to inappropriate or unwanted material.  It is vitally important that we all work together to safeguard children against such exposure.  Safe and responsible use of technology lies at the heart of ICT within our school.  Pupils are taught how to surf the web, send emails, and  use mobile technology sensibly.  They are also taught what they need to do if they should ever access anything unsuitable.

There are several excellent websites which support and educate children and their families in safe use of technology ('E-safety').  Some which we use within school are included below.  Click on a logo to take you to that website.

Hwb, a digital learning platform for Wales, has an excellent, comprehensive 'E-safety zone'. This includes links, advice and support for children and for parents/carers.  Click the image below to go to HWB's E-safety Zone.
