Reception
Croeso i Dosbarth Derbyn!
Across our summer term, we will be taking part in a plethora of interactive, challenging, and enthralling activities within our new context "Get Connected". We will be focussing on Science and Technology in particular, getting connected with nature! Consequently, Reception look forward to a summer full of enriched, outdoor learning; exploring and understanding our local area and ecology.
Our children will be sharing this learning with you towards the end of term as part of a "Learn with Me" showcase. As part of our Learning Journey, Reception will be discussing life-cycles of plants and investigating how different variables can impact plant growth. Pupils will continue to develop their phonics and writing skills in order to complete an informative text about animal habitats following online research. Our pupils will experience immersive outdoor lessons, utilising their number skills to record data when looking out for birds in our garden. In addition, they will embed their understanding of 2D and 3D shapes when planning, designing and making bird houses as part of our development of a Reception Bird Conservation Garden. As part of this project showcase, we will be re-wilding our Reception garden, learning about local species of birds and insects, and hopefully visiting a local Conservation!
